Bloemfontein – A North West family has been devastated by the death of a mother who was injured in a robbery two weeks ago.

Popular and well-known Corlia Kock, 39, from Vryburg in the North West sustained a brain injury after she and her husband Malcolm and two sons surprised robbers at their family business on the evening of 21 October, reported Beeld.

The family wanted to make photocopies for a school project and caught the robbers red-handed.

“There was shouting and the intruders ran away. Corlia lay on the floor and lost consciousness,” said her sister-in-law, Dr Ruvé Kock.

It was not clear whether Kock fell or was hit over the head but she sustained bleeding and swelling on the brain and later had an infection as well.

“It was a big shock for Malcolm and their two sons (Frans and André) when her condition deteriorated so quickly afterwards,” said Dr Kock.

“She was a well-read, loved, nice woman and an incredible mom for her sons and wife to her husband. She was fit and ran half-marathons like the Two Oceans.”
