The Ghana FA is hoping to have Emmanuel Frimpong cleared to play for the Black Stars in time for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 20-year-old has stated his desire to play for Ghana having played for England at junior level.
The Arsenal midfielder’s nationality switch has however dragged for far too long – raising doubts he will be cleared in time to play at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
But Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi explains the matter is still with FIFA but then is hopeful of a favourable verdict by the end of the year.
“The matter is still with FIFA due to some documentation they need from the other football associations in the UK,” Nyantakyi told Kumasi-based Kessben FM.
“This piece of documentation has dragged the issue but we are hopeful before the end of the year the issue will be resolved to give him (Frimpong) the chance to come and play in the Nations Cup if the coach so wishes.”
Frimpong has been capped six times each with the English U-16 and 17 teams.
