Shattered Yobo tasks Eagles

Yobo – Shattered to miss AFCON clash

Shattered Eagles skipper Joseph Yobo has charged the team to win in Calabar against Liberia on Saturday in a make-or-break AFCON qualifier.

The first leg in Liberia finished in a 2-2 draw last month.

“I am confident my colleagues will deliver. I have been in touch with the team and I have no fears what so ever,” said Yobo, who admitted he was devastated to miss out on the game because of a knee complaint.

“All we need to do is rally round the team, cheer them non-stop and we will together celebrate at the end of 90 minutes.”

Yobo, speaking in an exclusive interview with MTNFootball.com from his base in Turkey, also confirmed that he would not be making it to Calabar to cheer the Eagles as earlier expected.

Yobo has been told by doctors at Fenerbache not to embark on a long trip back to Nigeria as this could further aggravate the injury.

He suffered the injury in his club’s last league game where he was substituted in the 70the minute as a result.

Yobo is Nigeria’s most capped international and was set for his 90th appearance in a green and white shirt on Saturday.

He has featured in five Nations Cup finals beginning with the 2002 edition in Mali, where Nigeria finished third best.
