Kalaba fails to travel for team camp medical

Rainford Kalaba

Rainford Kalaba has opted not to travel to Johannesburg for Zambia team Doctors to ascertain the full extent of his injury.

Sources familiar with the development disclosed to MTNFootball.com on Wednesday that the TP Mazembe midfielder is back in Lubumbashi after earlier indications that he will travel to Johannesburg.

Zambia are camped in Johannesburg ahead of their 2013 Africa Cup final leg qualifier away to Uganda on October 13.

“He is injured, it’s not like he is faking an injury,” the source disclosed.

Kalaba has a groin injury he sustained last Sunday while in action for Mazembe in a 0-0 draw against Esperance of Tunisia in their African Champions League semifinal first leg tie played in Lubumbashi.

Meanwhile, Zambia flies out of Johannesburg on Thursday afternoon to Entebbe aboard a charter flight after a three -day training camp in South Africa.

Zambia, who lead Uganda 1-0 from the first leg played on September 8 in Ndola, need a draw on in Kampala to secure their place at the 2013 finals in South Africa.
