Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has urged Ghana to position itself properly in order to attract foreign direct investment to improve the economy and the country at large.
He said attracting foreign direct investment doesn’t come on a silver platter, insisting that the country must put in place certain vital measures and policies to woo investors.
Mr. Kufuor said in order to attract investment, Ghana needed to stabilize its economy to boost the confidence of investors to invest their hard-earned currency in the country.
The former president, in a speech read on his behalf by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nhyiaeso, Dr. Richard Anane during the inauguration of the Ghana/Turkey Investors Dinner Ball, said infrastructure in the country also needed to be strengthened.
Former President Kufuor said the transportation system and energy provision in the country should be constant at all times in order to give confidence to the foreigners to invade the country for business.
The human resource base of the country ought to be improved, political stability needed to be maintained at all times, legal framework in the country must be strengthened and the acquisition of lands for infrastructural development should be flexible, he said.
Ex-President Kufuor observed that these aforementioned factors would help Ghana attract investors into the country in order to improve the economy to the benefit of the populace.
Deputy General Manager of EXIM Bank of Turkey, Alaadin Metin observed that Ghana was endowed with natural and human resources to transform at the a rapid rate and urged the country to improve its economy.
He said his outfit was a business friendly banking institution and implored Ghanaian businessmen to take advantage to transact business in order to improve their capital.
Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori-Atta, CEO, E-ON3 Company Limited, organizers of the business dinner, said the programme was organized ostensibly to help create a platform for businessmen in Ghana and Turkey to create acquaintance and improve upon their businesses.
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Hanna Tetteh Kpodah, in a speech read on her behalf, praised E-ON3 Company Limited for instituting such a commendable event, which could deepen the existing bond between Ghana and Turkey.
