Ghana’s Badu ruled out of Malawi AFCON qualifier

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu is out of Ghana’s sqaud to play Malawi

Ghana will miss the services of Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu for next week’s crunch 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. 

Agyemang-Badu is reported to have picked up a knee injury during the Little Zebras Europa League tie at Liverpool on Thursday. 

He was named in coach Kwesi Appiah’s initial 21-man squad for return leg qualifier in Lilongwe on 13 October. 

But he has been replaced by Parma midfielder Afriyie Acquah who has earned his second senior national team call-up. 

Agyemang-Badu first the leg 2-0 win in Accra last month due to a back injury. 

The box-to-box midfielder has been battling injuries this term after a knee injury at the 2012 Nations Cup finals sidelined for close to two months.
