‘Nduom Deserves Presidency’

The chief of Tema (Tema Mantse), Nii-Adjei Kraku II, has said that the flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, deserves to be the president of Ghana.Dr. Nduom yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Tema Mantse at his palace.

Accompanied by his running mate, Ms. Eva Naa Merley Lokko and other national and regional executive members of the party, Dr. Nduom took his grassroots campaign tour of the country to the Tema East, Krowor and the Ledzokuku constituencies in the Greater Accra Region.

According to Nii Kraku, he had known Dr. Nduom since his days as the Minister of Energy and the way he handled that sector… and with his political track record he stands tall among all others that he is competing with in the race for the Ghanaian top post. “…I am saying this because I know Dr. Nduom personally (when he was the Energy Minister) and his track record is there for everyone to see. This is somebody who has gone through the political mill—from being elected as an Assembly man, he became an MP and later a Minister of State,” Nii Kraku indicated.

The PPP flag bearer assured the Tema Mantse that when he is elected president of Ghana he will revive the Volta Aluminum Company (VALCO) and improve facilities at its workshops to generate jobs for Ghanaians. “…A PPP government led by me will also see to it that lagoons in Tema including the Sakumono and Chemu Lagoons are dredged,” and further assured: “We will also resuscitate especially state-owned industries in Tema to provide more jobs for the people.”
Dr. Nduom used the opportunity to introduce the party’s parliamentary aspirant for Tema East constituency, Prince Okyere, to the gathering and urged them to vote for massively for him to bring about development in the area.

At Teshie in the Krowor constituency, Dr. Nduom disclosed that a PPP government will ensure that the railway sector in the country is revamped with modern facilities to provide ‘better and accessible transportation’ to Ghanaians.

He gave this assurance when he and his team paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Teshie- Nungua, Nii Odaifio Wulenchi III, in his palace.
According to him, the improvement of the railway sector in the country will not only provide better transportation but also generate lots of jobs for Ghanaians.

“…And in doing this we will see to it that the railway lines in the country are improved upon and also provide air-conditioned trains for the comfort of passengers,” the PPP flag bearer disclosed.
Dr. Nduom, who is popularly known as Edwumawura, went on to assure residents in the area that when voted into power he will ensure that all the beaches in Teshie-Nungua and its environs are cleaned to attract tourists and generate revenue for development.

He also used the opportunity to reiterate the PPP’s free compulsory and continuous quality education policy from kindergarten to Senior High School (SHS), affirming that this is something “a PPP administration will diligently implement with a sense of urgency.”
Dr. Nduom and his team later called on the Overlord (Shitse Wulomo) of Nungua Traditional Area, Numo Borketey Laweh Tsuru.
