ZAR Lounge is set to open in Harare soon following a deal between popular South African celebrity and socialite Kenny Kunene and Zimbabwe’s youthful businessman Wicknell Chivayo. The ZAR brand is expected to boost the already robust Harare nightlife, offering quality entertainment with guest appearances by some of the A-listers in Hollywood.
ZAR Lounge offers LED lights, LED red carpet of its kind plus a whole new look and feel.
However, those who have been to ZAR Lounges Down South will tell you that there is something particular with regards to class, elegance and fun.
In an interview from South Africa, Gayton McKenzie, who is the co-owner with Kunene, was elated that the ZAR brand was coming to Zimbabwe.
“Well, it is true we have just launched a branch in Kimberley some two weeks ago where we had Ciara as our guest and since we are now on a rollout we are now focusing on opening another branch in Zimbabwe.
“We have partnered with Wicknell, who Kunene has been mentoring for a couple of years and we are happy he gave us his capital and it’s all systems go,” he said.
McKenzie said opening the ZAR Lounge was a long time coming as Zimbabwe was blessed.
Asked when the lounge is opening in Zimbabwe, McKenzie said the club would open its doors before year-end.
“We have identified the venue and the lounge should be up before the end of year. And we are hoping to bring Chris Brown for the official opening but before that we have a surprise guest whom I am not at liberty to discuss at the moment,” McKenzie said.
Some two weeks ago Kunene was featured on etv’s Celebrity Lifestyle show where he said he was inspired by President Mugabe.
Contacted for comment, Chivayo who is one of the richest young businessmen in the country, was evasive on the issue.
“Gentlemen if I start discussing my business investments around the world it would take us the whole day,” he said before hanging up his phone.
The ZAR club brand is one of the most recognised brands in South Africa, where international celebrities go out to have a night out.
Previously, Kunene together with McKenzie presented the ZAR Fest at Harare’s Borrowdale Racecourse where American singers Lil Kim, Fat Joe, DJ Scratch and Ciara performed.
