Sevilla-Barca ref under investigation

La Liga

Referee Mateu Lahoz says he is calm despite investigations regarding his handling of the game between Sevilla and Barcelona. In that game Barcelona came back from two goals down to force a late 3-2 win over a Sevilla side which had been reduced to ten men.Midfielder Gary Medel was shown a straight red card in the second half for headbutting Cesc Fabregas, but Sevilla have appealed the decision as they felt the Barcelona midfielder made a meal of the incident.Lahoz was also under fire for waving play on during the move that led to Barca’s second goal, although Sevilla had appealed that Thiago Alcantara had handled the ball, but he says the decisions he made are detailed in his match report.“I know people are upset, but I assure you I’m not worried,” Lahoz told ABC.“Medel’s sending off? What do you want me to say? I can’t say anything about technical aspects of the match.“The issue is finished. I put what I think in the report.”The Referees Technical Committee is currently investigating the controversial decisions made during the game and if found guilty of any misconduct, Lahoz could face disciplinary action.
