Bukom Banku’s return to the ring delayed

The return of the nation’s most exciting boxer, Brimah Kamoko also known as Bukom Banku to the ring, has suffered another delay. The World Boxing Organisation (WBO) whose light heavyweight title Banku holds will hold a convention in Florida, USA between October 22 to 28.

As a result, his promoters Golden Mike have rescheduled the fights to November 24 since there are four other WBO sanctioned bouts on the bill.
The undefeated boxer has also recently been mentioned in an assault of a family in James town Accra. This development coincidentally comes only months after patching his otherwise shattered relationship with Golden Mike Promotions due to his indiscipline.

When reached by Joy Sports on phone Banku’s promoter Mike Tetteh, declined comments on the matter. It is therefore unclear what decision will be taken on the boxer’s future with the promotional outfit. Bukom Banku (Brimah Kamoko) has seen an amazingly rapid growth of his career under the award-winning promotional outfit, Golden Mike Promotions.

Under the Accra-based promoters, Banku has fought some credible opponents from all over the world including Uruguay’s Jorge Rodriguez Olivera whom he defeated to annex the WBO Africa light heavyweight title. The Ghanaian boxer who has gone 23 fights undefeated will defend that title against Pascal Ndomba of Tanzania on November 24.

Bukom Banku was recently named best boxer of the year 2011 by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana at its annual awards dinner at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra, Ghana
