Lindsay Lohan has stepped up to defend her mother following the matriarch’s disastrous interview on Dr Phil earlier this month.
Dina Lohan earlier accused producers
of doctoring clips to make her appear intoxicated during her televised
sit-down with Phil McGraw.
But now her actress daughter has taken
aim at the 62-year-old TV psychologist, calling him a ‘fraud’ in a
vitriolic rant on Twitter.
The 26-year-old has sat back for weeks
without making public comment regarding her mother’s highly-criticised
interview with McGraw.
Clips from the 30-minute pre-taped
session which aired on September 17 show Dina Lohan, 50, refusing to honestly
answer questions about her daughter’s troubled past.
Faced with questions about Lindsay’s
lengthy arrest record and accusations she has exploited her children for
her own gain, Dina lashes out at ‘mean’ critics who have branded
‘world’s worst mother’, squirming in her seat and at one point flipping
off the cameras.
Stumbling over her words and wiping
away tears, she takes aim at Dr Phil: ‘Look at you, you’re in your
little tie and your little shoes….’
He asks: ‘I’m in my little tie and my little shoes… what the hell does that mean?’
Dina’s ex-husband, Lindsay’s father
Michael Lohan, also appears via satellite – his exchange with McGraw
recorded during a separate session.
The patriarch accused Dina of ‘taking
money and commissions from Lindsay by lying to her’, and when asked
about his ex’s behaviour suggested Dina may have been under the
influence of alcohol.
‘Was she drinking before she did your interview?’ he asks, snickering.
Dina strongly denied the accusations, telling TMZ: ‘I don’t care what it looks like. I’m fine and I don’t care what anyone says.
‘All people saw was two minutes edited of an hour long interview. Of course they cut it to make it interesting.’

But Lindsay has now stepped up in her mother’s defense, as TMZ reports.
Taking to Twitter on Saturday, the
actress wrote: ‘@DrPhil You should be ashamed of yourself. What kind of
man takes advantage of a woman @her most vulnerable state? YOU are the
fraud’.
Lindsay has
meanwhile been throwing herself into her work in her latest attempt to
salvage her ailing reputation following a string of arrests, car crashes
and her highly-publicised battle with addiction.

But her comeback hit another speed
bump last Monday when the actress was rushed to hospital last night
suffering from a bad lung infection.
According to TMZ, Lindsay had suffered
with a case of ‘walking pneumonia’ but her condition apparently
deteriorated, causing her to seek medical attention.
The actress was reportedly taken to
the emergency room at Mount Sinai Hospital where she received treatment,
including antibiotics.

She was discharged shortly afterwards and is said to be recovering.
The health scare comes as yet more
drama for the former Mean Girls star, who was arrested earlier this
month after allegedly leaving the scene of an accident after clipping a
pedestrian with her car in New York.
According to TMZ, Lindsay was pulling
in at low speed to park her Porsche Cayenne near the Dream Hotel when
she allegedly hit the knee of an unnamed man in his 30s on September 19.

Lindsay was booked for the
misdemeanour offence of leaving the scene of an accident and released
with a desk appearance ticket, meaning she did not have to pay bail
before release.
The alleged victim was not knocked down by the vehicle and had no visible injuries, but was still taken to hospital.
Though the offense is a misdemeanour,
it could trigger a probation violation in the actress’s jewellery theft
case as one of the conditions of probation is that she obeys all laws.
