Egypt: 25 Houses Evacuated in Cairo’s Doweika After Rockslide

Security bodies evacuated 25 huts in Cairo’s Doweika slum area after a huge rock collapsed late last night and fell on a number of huts, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.

A geological committee was assigned to study the area, MENA added.

The rock which fell on a number of huts caused panic among citizens and 4 vehicles of rescue teams were sent out to lift the rock.

Preliminary investigations showed that the rock that fell was in area number 2 in Mokattam’s Amir al-Mo’menin street.

No victims were reported so far.

Security forces cordoned off the area.
