Kenya: BAT, Athi River Mining Set New Closing Highs

The NSE20 firmed 8.56 points to close at 3950.97. The NSE20 Index is + 745 Points and +23.244% in 2012 and is just 8.13 points below its 14 Month Closing High of 3959.10 from 19th September.

The Nairobi All Share firmed 0.14 points to close at 86.43 and is +27.046% in 2012. Equity Turnover was 884.311m and 76.14% of that was transacted in EABL which rallied 2.69%. Rea Vipingo improved 2.121% to close at 16.85 and traded 27,100. It is surely one of the cheapest shares at the Securities Exchange.

Safaricom traded 11.885m shares worth 47.545m and closed unchanged at 4.00 and has closed at this level since September 17th. The price is underwritten at 4.00 and this level represents the bottom of the new trading range which range extends to 4.45 on the top side and I expect the price to head there.

Uchumi rallied 2.346% to close at 17.45 and traded 949,300 shares. Uchumi is +125.161% in 2012 and is 9.819% below a 52 Week and a 6+ year closing high of 19.35 from May 23rd this Year.

Nation Media corrected 0.462% off an all time closing high to close at 215.00 and traded 27,700 shares. Standard Group ticked 7.07% lower to close at 23.00 and traded 600 shares. The divergence between Nation Media and Standard Group in 2012 has been enormous.

Kenya Commercial Bank eased 0.925% to close at 26.75 and traded 861,100 shares. Kenya Commercial Bank was trading at 27.25 +0.93% at the closing bell and signalling the pull back from a 52 week closing High of 28.00 dated 13th September is now complete.

Diamond Trust traded 3rd. Diamond Trust closed unchanged at 105.00 and traded 356,000 shares worth 37.73m. Equity Bank closed unchanged at 23.50 and traded 612,300 shares.

COOP Bank retreated 1.63% to close at 12.05 and traded 269,200 shares. Standard Chartered dipped 2 shillings to close at 203.00 and traded 10,600 shares.

Housing Finance firmed 1.098% to close at 13.80 and traded 120,100 shares.

EABL rallied 2.69% to close at 229.00 and was trading session highs of 232.00 +4.04% at the closing bell. EABL traded 2.942m shares worth 675.866m, which represented 76.14% of the total turnover transacted at the Exchange.

Athi River Mining firmed 1.3636% to close at 223.00 which is a fresh all time closing high. ARM traded 109,000 shares. Bamburi Cement firmed a shilling to close at 169.00 and traded 11,000 shares.

BAT firmed a shilling to close at 423.00 which is a fresh all time closing high. Unga firmed 0.99% to close at 15.25 and traded 39,800 shares. KenolKobil retreated 2.23% to close at 15.30 and traded 155,300 shares.
