Malanje — About 20 expatriate physicians assigned to Provincial and municipal hospitals and health centres are updating since this Tuesday, in this city, their knowledge about the prevention, diagnosis and correct treatment of malaria, at a one-day long conference.

The meeting promoted by the national company of consulting, anagement and health administration “Consaúde” mainly aims at enhancing the technical capacity of health officials, for effective implementation of control activities and practices of malaria prevention.

By opening the conference, the clinical director of the provincial hospital, Jacob Lenvo Diata, representing the local health director, said the meeting will somehow contribute to the reduction of morbidity and mortality of malaria in the province.

He said that efforts will be made to strengthen the technical, training and updating knowledge in the area of scientific research in order to, increasingly, circumventing malaria in Malanje.

The director also said that efforts are being shown for the prevention of disease with anti larval, vector, use of mosquito nets and intermittent preventive treatment and diagnosis, which will enable the reduction of this disease within the population.
