National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman for the Greater Accra Region, Joseph Ade Coker, has given an independent aspiring Member of Parliament for the Korle-Klottey constituency, Leeford Kpakpo Quarshie, a two week ultimatum to step down.
But Leeford Kpakpo Quarshie has raised issues over the decision by the NDC chairman to call on him to step down from contesting the December elections as an independent candidate. Leeford Quarshie, who contested in the NDC parliamentary primaries and lost to the incumbent Member of Parliament, told Gold News he considers the 2 weeks ultimatum given him by the NDC chairman as a threat on his life.
Leeford Quarshie is questioning the chairman’s credibility and loyalty to the NDC adding that he worked towards the success of the party before the Chairman joined the party.
Greater Accra chairman of the NDC, Joseph Ade Coker, told Gold News that Mr. Leeford Quashie was given the chance to contest the seat of the Korle- Klottey constituency for which he lost.
He noted that according to the laws of the party, the party membership is repealed if the candidate who failed to get the maximum votes to represent the constituencies campaigns against the winner.
