President John Dramani Mahama on Saturday stated that God had already blessed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win the 2012 general election in December this year.

“The election is going to be one touch and I know that the way you have all received me here, I know that God has already declared the winner and I know that is going to be the NDC.”

President Mahama said this when he addressed party supporters at Agona Swedru on his way to attend a festival at Agona Nyakrom in the Central Region.

The Party members as early as 0800 hours gathered at the Swedru town Hall to catch a glimpse of the President who was expected to make a whistle stop to interact with them and encourage them on the forthcoming general election.

President Mahama said the late President Mills before his death promised to conduct peaceful elections and he would continue with that agenda to conduct an election that would be free, fair and acceptable by all Ghanaians.

He said NDC would win the elections to enable the government to complete and continue with the “Better Ghana Agenda” the late President Mills had embarked on before his death.

“The voice of the people, they always say is the voice of God and I know that once you have all spoken, you have done that for God to act on.”

President Mahama advised party supporters to resist any act that could escalate into violence and other forms of disturbances in the December general election saying “we NDC members are well prepared to win the general election and we therefore do not need to do anything that will derail the forward march to victory, come December this year.”

Ama Benyiwa-Doe, Central Regional Minister, called on the people to reciprocate President Mahama’s friendly gesture of choosing his Vice President from the Central Region by voting massively for the party in coming elections.
