Angola: Baia Farta Gains Integrated Sewing Centre

Farta Bay — An integrated community centre for dressmaking was opened on Friday at 11 November district, outskirts of the municipality of Baia Farta, 25 kilometres off the coastal city of Benguela, by the provincial director of Social Welfare, Marinela Sendala .

The centre whose budget was not disclosed, includes a room equipped with 14 sewing machines, a cabinet for trainers, storage and changing rooms. At the inauguration, Marinela Sendala said that initially the centre will house 20 young people who will receive training after sewing kits, aiming at their reintegration into social life.

He revealed that the centre responds to concern the Angolan government led by President José Eduardo dos Santos in order for promotion of youth. She added that the trainees can make the centre profitable during training to allow revenue collection to purchase sewing and maintenance supplies.
