Mamprugu Roots For Bawumia

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia speaking to the crowd at Tamale

Residents of the four constituencies in Mamprugu have reaffirmed their support to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who hails from the area.

According to them, the rousing welcome accorded him while entering Walewale, his hometown, on Thursday, was an indication of good things to happen.

They indicated their readiness to mandate him as the next Vice President of the Republic during the upcoming polls, maintaining they would not allow themselves to be deceived with wax prints and iodized salt to vote against their own brother and son as witnessed in the past.

Many alleged that some enemies of development also took it upon themselves to propagate all manner of falsehood about the  running mate prior to the 2008 elections, which swayed their interest into voting NPP, indicating it was not going to work this time round.

They warned that henceforth the youth of the area would not relent to throw out mischievous persons who were engaged in peddling falsehood about Dr. Bawumia.

The Vice Presidential candidate of the NPP, who started his tour of the Northern Region with a massive rally at the Zogbeli Park in Tamale last Wednesday, was received at Datoyili by a huge crowd of supporters amidst display of motorbikes and cars.

Addressing the huge party supporters and sympathizers, Dr. Bawumia called on electorates to give their mandate to NPP for a life transforming economy and better future for all Ghanaians.

He urged them to reject the politics of deceit, lies and propaganda and vote for the NPP which had the proven ability and commitment to improving the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian.

He noted that education was important in the country’s development but regretted the poor handling of the economy by the NDC has impoverished most Ghanaians, especially those in the North.

He explained the introduction and implementation of the free Senior High School policy by the NPP was to address this developmental challenge.

The NPP vice presidential candidate stressed the policy was feasible and assured the crowd that when given the mandate, the NPP would marshal the necessary resources to make its implementation real. He mocked the NDCs criticisms of the free SHS policy as being cheap talk without any fact.

On agriculture, the renowned economist said the NPP was, by the mechanised farming, going to afford most farmers in the area to engage in farming on a large scale in order to address the country’s food insecurity situation and enable farmers position themselves well on the international market.

He accused the NDC of subjecting to incessant propaganda and abandoning projects begun by the NPP and commended his party for the massive development in the region such as the Tamale Stadium, modern streetlights and the provision of portable drinking water for Tamale and its environs.

Dr. Bawumia urged the electorates to make a choice in December between a government based on lies, deceit and propaganda and that which was focused on progress, development and transformation of the lives of Ghanaians.

The NPP running mate was accompanied on the 16-day tour by Sheik T.B. Damba, Otiko Afisah Djabah, NPP national organizer, Anthony Karbo, national youth organizer and several other leading members of the party.
