Kenya: 160 Defence Force Solders Back to Work

More than 160 troops from Thika and Nakuru’s who have been fighting in Somalia since October arrived home yesterday. The Kenya Defence Forces soldiers were welcomed at Thika barracks by their seniors, colleagues, family members and friends. The fighters were arrived in military buses escorted by military police Land Rovers.

On arrival at the entrance of the barracks on the Thika-Garissa road, they were received by senior military officers led by Col Muracia and major Mutua. The officers then alighted from their buses and marched for 1 km into the barracks led by their families who were jubilantly singing in praise of God for bringing home their loved ones alive.

Later the officers ate lunch together with their seniors who included the barracks commander Brig Col George Owino after a thanksgiving prayers session. Owino thanked the soldiers for fighting “bravely and intelligently” fro their country. Family members shed tears of joy as their kins narrated their experience in the battle front. The officer will go for leave before resuming work.
