After their away win on match day one, Djoliba’s central defender, Mohamed Oumar Konate, is confident before their clash against the Congolese side, Leopards of Dolisie this Saturday at the Modibo Keita Stadium in match day two of the Orange Confederation Cup in Group B.
How are the preparing for Saturday’s encounter going?
All is going well, we are playing at home, so we are aware of the immense task ahead of us as we are expected to get maximum points. Saturday’s match will thus be played in this light. Moreover, to maintain our leadership, we are obliged to win. Any other result would complicate our task for the rest of the competition.
Is your elimination from the National Cup a motivating factor?
It is true that we wanted to win the National Cup. We thought that it would be great to win a trebble, the championship, National Cup and the Confederation African Cup but unfortunately we were ousted in the semifinals. You must understand that this was our first defeat of the season on the national stage. The only challenge that interests us now is the Confederation Cup. I think this failure helped us to refocus and it also reinforced our determination to beat the Leopards.
How have you personally prepared the upcoming match?
In many ways, including physical and tactical, considering that the stakes are high. History has shown that very few teams, having lost a game at home were able to qualify for the semifinals. It’s simple; we can not afford to make errors. Personally, I intend to be vigilant at my post. My teammates will face the encounter with the same state of mind.
