Video: Ghana’s Andre Ayew Scores Twice To Help Marseille Advance In Europa

Ghana talented midfielder Andre Ayew scored twice on Thursday to help Marseille seal their place in the Europa League play-offs on Thursday.

The French side won 3-0 against Eskisehirspor, to qualify 4-1 on aggregate after being held to a 1-1 draw in the first-leg in Turkey.

Ayew opened the scoring in the seventh minnute, Gignac doubled their lead in the 36th minute and Ayew wrapped things up in the second-half.

Seven minutes into the contest Marseille had the lead they would not relinquish as Benoît Cheyrou played a short free-kick from the right of the box to Morgan Amalfitano, whose subsequent effort spilt from the mitts of ‘keeper Ruud Boffin and onto the path of André Ayew who dutifully slotted into the net.

Any chances the visitors entertained flittered away five minutes past the hour when André Ayew, from eight metres, nodded Morgan Amalfitano’s right wing cross into the near corner of the net.

Winners of the playoff round, to be played Aug. 23 and 30, will qualify for the group stage.

Marseille advance to the next stage of the tournament ahead of the domestic opener against Reims on Sunday.

Ayew’s younger brother Jordan came on as a second-half substitute.
