Nigeria: Army Opens Bid for N250 Million Capital Projects

The Nigerian Army Thursday in Abuja opened bids for tenderable capital projects valued at N250 million in line with its ongoing reform efforts toward transparency and accountability.

According to the Director of Logistics and Planning, Army Headquarters, Brig -Gen Dike Nna , the open bidding was in compliance with the public Procurement Act .

Nna said that the Act stipulates that there should be fairness, transparency and open competitiveness in the award of contracts.

He added: ” This is to ensure that what the army is doing is exposed to the entire public so that they would be able to see that there is no fraud or corruption in the contract process.

“More than a quarter of the people that bided are present and this shows that the army had notified people of the projects”.

Also speaking, the Procurement Officer, Ministry of Defence, Mr. Ogundele Kingsley confirmed that the conduct of the exercise was satisfactory as due process was being followed as stipulated by the Procurement Act.

” I am satisfied with the process , the army had conducted the exercise by informing and assembling the contractors, “Kingsley said.
