Volta Regional Security Council maintains heavy security in Hohoe

The Volta Regional Security Council is maintaining a heavy security presence in Hohoe despite a relaxation of the curfew there.

The Interior Ministry yesterday approved that the curfew be relaxed to between 8pm and 5am. Until the relaxation, movement was restricted from 6pm to 6am.

The town was the scene of deadly clashes between the Muslim community and indigenes which claimed three lives.

Volta Regional Minister and Chairman of the security council, Henry Ford Kamel tells Joy News a review of the curfew was prompted by the relative calm that has since returned to the area.

Mr. Kamel said the people have complied with the general terms of the curfew arrangements and “that gives us cause to believe that the review will be in the interest of all of us”.

He however adds the heavy security presence is being maintained out of caution.
