Striker Yusif Rahman is hoping to make the final Ghana U-20 team for next month’s African Youth Championship against Uganda.

The 19-year-old who plays for Cypriot club Alki Larnaca was one of fifteen players (including two locally based goalkeepers) that took part in Tuesday’s training session organized for the foreign-based players.

The three-day exercise is to give an opportunity to the technical team to work closely with the players who predominantly ply their trade in Europe for possible selection to augment the local stars ahead of the qualifiers.

And Rahman who looked sprightly throughout the session hopes to be one of the lucky players to make coach Orlando Weelington’s final cut.

“Today is my first time of being here but in football if you are even given five minutes you should be able to exhibit what you can do,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“I will be happy if I make the final cut but it depends the coach.

“As a Ghanaian I will only be happy if I get the chance to play for the nation.”

The justify-your-inclusion exercise ends on Wednesday with a friendly game with a yet to be named side from Akosombo.

The Black Satelites are looking to recapture their lost glory since becoming the first African side to win a World Cup at that level three years ago in Egypt.
