Nana Addo’s Zongo Fund Is Just Political Gimmick – NDC

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer’s announcement of a special fund for deprived inner city communities or Zongos as a political gimmick.

Nana Akufo-Addo’s Zongo Fund is meant to allocate about 100 million dollars to the Zongos annually if the NPP is voted back into power.

The Fund is meant to shore up development in the Zongo communities.

But Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Richard Quashigah in an interview with XYZ News said the proposed Zongo Fund is a desperate move by the NPP flagbearer to court sympathy from the deprived Muslim communities ahead of the December polls.

“I don’t know the basis on which the NPP will say the Zongo people are disappointed, it is not the Zongo people who are saying it, it is the NPP that is saying it.

“I don’t know why Nana-Addo keeps making promises that he is not going to fulfill. All that he is doing is to lure people to vote for him to come to office” Mr Quashigah said.

But the National Organizer of the NPP, Moctar Bamba in an interview with XYZ News said his party will sweep majority of the Zongo votes in December.

According to him, the NDC has done nothing for the Zongo communities in the country since it came into power in 2009.
