The Pentecost University is resorting to the use of advanced technology to increase its infrastructure base to cater for its growing student population.
The university which began with a student population of just 250 students has in the past years more than doubled its student population size to 3,876.
The increase in admissions has compelled the Church of Pentecost to create more space to accommodate the rising student numbers. In this regard, materials are being imported from China to quicken the pace of work on a nine-storey ultramodern complex expected to be completed within six months.
The Estate and Development Manager of the Pentecost University, Joseph Ignatius Buartey in an interview with Joy News Television stated that, “we choose to import the materials from China because with the kind of building that we are erecting within six months, the materials needed to complete it within this short period cannot be produced in Ghana. We have realized that it will take two years in order for you to complete a nine storey building here in Ghana and with the increasing number of students applying to the school, we will need to quicken up things before the next academic year begins”.
According to him, the building will have new offices, big lecture auditoriums, four lecture theatres, eight lecture studios, nursing demonstration room, IT laboratory to contain 200 people, 80 staff offices, a library annex and an automated library to contain 50 people.
12 contractors from China are expected in the country to assist Ghanaian workers complete the ultramodern building which is currently under construction.
