Chelsea FC to appoint Roberto Di Matteo as permanent manager?

One bookmaker has paid out on Roberto Di Matteo being installed as Chelsea’s next permanent manager.

Di Matteo has revitalised the Blues’ season in recent weeks, leading them to the final of the Champions League.

After less than two months in charge since replacing Andre Villas-Boas in March, Di Matteo has also led Chelsea to this weekend’s FA Cup final.

Although may believe the Italian needs to lead Chelsea to victory in the Champions League final on May 19th, bookmakers have in recent days slashed the odds on him being given the manager’s job on a full-time basis.

And with the chances of Pep Guardiola or Jose Mourinho taking charge at Stamford Bridge this summer fading fast, bookmakers Blue Square have made the decision to pay out to customers who have backed the interim boss to be appointed permanently.

Blue Square spokesperson Alan Alger was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “Irrespective of what happens in the FA Cup Final, we think Di Matteo is the man and we’re happy to pay out on him now.”

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has in recent days been linked with the Chelsea job, along with Germany coach Joachim Low.
