Insecurity: Labour calls for Service Chiefs’ sack

ABEOKUTA – The  Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC,  in Ogun  State,  has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to sack the Service Chiefs and as well as dissolve the Federal Executive Council, FEC, describing them as  ineffective and of no substance.

Chairman of the state NLC,Mr. Akeem Ambali,  said this at a briefing to herald the centenary celebration of the labour movement in the country.

Ambali said the worsening insecurity in the Northern part of the country called for  the sack of the service chiefs and dissolution of the Federal Executive Council.

He   condemned   last Thursday’s bombing of the Abuja and Kaduna offices of the ThisDay,  Sun and Moment newspapers.

He said: “It is unfortunate what is happening in Nigeria now. President Jonathan should retire the Service Chiefs because whenever Boko Haram say they will strike they will.

“Must we wait until it happens to a minister or  government officials before we act? If it had happened to a minister, they would have done something about it.

“The killing of journalists is uncalled for. It is as a result of poor leadership, no good roads, no stable power supply. Nigeria is not developing, not growing but it is at a standstill. Nigeria must choose good leaders. The President should also dissolve the FEC because the country is not moving forward.”

Also, the Muslim Rights Concern has denounced the simultaneous attacks on media houses in Abuja and Kaduna, saying that the attacks were not “only barbaric and callous but also bestial and cold blooded.”
