Imo 2012 National Women Championship postponed

THE Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) says it has been forced by “unforeseen circumstances” to postpone the third National Women Championship earlier scheduled to hold in Owerri on March 30 and 31.

According to the NCF, the championship will now hold on April 27 and 28 at the same venue. Imo State was selected to host this edition of the championship following its sterling performance at the 2011 edition in Lagos, where it finished second.

According to the NCF General Manager, George Wiltshire, the federation hopes that hosting the championship in Owerri will sell the game to the Imo youths, especially with outstanding players in the championship expected to join the national team.

Wiltshire told The Guardian: The “NCF wants as many people as possible to embrace the game and taking the championship to Owerri will aid our grassroots development ambition.”
