Marseille must get back on their feet

Having hit rock bottom, OM head to Nice on Saturday on Day 29 of the L1 (kickoff at 20h00 CAT).

The Marseillais have just strung together seven consecutive defeats over all their competitions, of which the last was in the France Cup against a third division club.

Lying ninth in the championship at eleven points from the podium, there is hardly anything left to save the club’s season except the League Cup, in which OM will wrestle Lyon in the final.

A miracle in the Champions League seems highly unlikely given Marseille’s recent performances and the hope of a European seat in the Ligue 1 is gradually disappearing as the Championship progresses.

The watchword has now become quite clear in the Olympic camp.

“The priority now is to show a new face in the championship and to give everything to finish as high as possible,” commented club president Vincent Labrune.

This will therefore begin as of Saturday with their away game at the Stade municipal du Ray against 18th positioned Nice.

And for this encounter, Didier Deschamps has called for a reaction from his men.

“We have hit rock bottom, we need to get back on our feet,” advised the Marseille coach when he addressed his players.

Loïc Rémy, author of a brace in the team’s 3-2 defeat at the hands of Quévilly, could well be the one to sound the revolt.
