A man was severely injured during a skydive east of Hartebeespoort, North West, on Sunday morning, paramedics said.
The man’s chute apparently tangled on a rocky outcrop, Netcare 911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks said.
Rescue workers searched for the man, and found him hanging upside down. A medical helicopter was called and landed in a clearing around 200m away. A trauma doctor and flight paramedic hiked to the patient. He was found in a critical condition, having sustained severe head and spinal trauma.
He was treated on the scene, immobilised and airlifted to Netcare Union Hospital. – Sapa
