Sudan: WBGS Governor to Meet Investors in Juba

Juba — The Governor of Western Bahr-El-Ghazal State, Rizik Zakaria Hassan arrived Juba yesterday for two meetings with investors as a follow-up of the memos of understanding he had signed with them during his last visit to Singapore. Accompanied by his Minister of Finance Morris Yel, the governor in a brief interview with journalists in Juba International Airport, said the security situation in his state was recently disturbed by SAF who incurred into Balballa town near Raja and explained that market prices of food items have dropped considerably following some improvement in supply.

He said he had carried along from Wau two copies of the memos of understanding for projects the teams of investors will come to discuss with him in Juba in the next four days. He mentioned that the investors are from Singapore which he visited in November 2011 and include Americans and Indians. The meeting will take place in the period 15th to 19th February 2012. Some of the investors deal in aviation and have planes to base in South Sudan for commercial purposes while others are specialized in development of parks and will be able to construct 50 of them. The third group are Malaysians who want to invest on palm oil industries and others have money which they want to give as loans to the government mainly for construction.
