Lyon host a Caen in bad shape

Lyon’s Bafétimbi Gomis, struggles with Caen defender Grégory Leca

Having just qualified for the quarter final of the France Cup, OL host Caen on Saturday on Day 23 of the Ligue 1.

After having validated their ticked for the League Cup final, Lyon outclassed Bordeaux in the last sixteen of the France Cup on Wednesday, and are still going strong in each of their four competitions.

The team is lying fourth in the Ligue 1, have won a series of five matches with no defeats and have only lost once in Gerland in the championship this season.

Rémi Garde’s men will therefore be overwhelming favourites against a Norman team that has just suffered four consecutive defeats and ten matches with no victory over all their competitions.

Moreover, the coach of the Gones showed much optimism following their win over Bordeaux.

“The spiral of victory is fantastic.  It’s difficult to beat us at the moment,” declared the technician.

On top of this, he will have an almost complete selection with the return of Gourcuff, Cris and Ederson.

Only John Mensah, Sidy Koné (Africa Cup of Nations) and Lovren will be missing.
