Nwankwo Obiora thrilled by Gubbio debut

Nigeria Olympic team stand-in skipper Nwankwo Obiora played for over an hour on his debut Friday for Italian Serie B AS Gubbio.

Gubbio forced Bari to a 2-2 draw at home as Obiora, on has moved on loan from Parma, lasted 62 minutes and was booked in the 57th minute.

“I am happy to be at Gubbio, I am here to make an impact and make the team achieve great thing during my stay here,” Obiora told MTNFootball.com
   
“It is a new challenge for me and I promise to give my best to help team achieve their goal. I am a midfielder who likes to play in front of the defence, but I do go upfront to get goals.”
   
The Nigeria midfielder would very much wish to improve immediately the standings of Gubbio in the Italian lower league.
   
Gubbio are 20th in the 22-team Serie B with 19 points from 21 Matches and very much sucked into the drop zone.  

“I am here to contribute my quota to make sure we do well at the end of the season. I have gained experience playing in the Serie A and that has made me a better player than when I came to Italy,” stated Nwankwo, a big admirer of Yaya Toure of Manchester City.
   
“I will bring that to bear on Gubbio. Coming here will also help my career a lot as I will have regular playing time.

“Yaya Toure is a player I love and admire so much, he has been the power house for Manchester City. I have learnt a lot from him and I think I could do same here with Gubbio.”
