Cape Town – Petrol shortages reportedly hit stations around the country on Tuesday as motorists rush to fill up before a price hike.
The majority of Shell filling stations as well as many Sasol, BP and Engen garages have also reported shortages, EWN said.
And many stations with fuel apparently have a limited supply.
Motorists have been hit by another petrol price hike, this time of 34c. Prices will change at midnight on Wednesday.
Bonang Mogale, chairperson and vice president of Shell South Africa, said he is trying to find out where exactly the shortages are, so it can be addressed, EWN reported.
Callers on Talk Radio 702 complained that many garages they had been to were without fuel.
Petrol 95 ULP octane in Gauteng will now cost R10.95/litre from R10.61 before, while at the coast it will cost R10.65/litre compared with R10.31 previously.
