151 Marriages Dissolved

Several marriages were dissolved last year by a Circuit court in Obuasi after aggrieved partners filed for divorce petitions against their spouses. One hundred and fifty one out of 171 couples who opted for the legal dissolution of their marriages, had the blessing of the court after several attempts to settle their differences failed.

The marriages, which had lasted for between one to five years were brought to an end at the request of either one or both partners, Daily Guide gathered.

An officer of the court said some of the divorcees included pastors, managers and other high ranking members of society. Some of the reasons assigned to the divorces were infidelity, gross disrespect, unmet expectations and incompatibility in terms of age and education differences and interference from in-laws. The rest included childlessness, issues of step children, laziness, poor home management, financial problems and couples unfaithfulness among others.
