Delta demotes 5 erring principals

Five school principals in Delta State have been demoted to classroom teachers for alleged illegal  collection of levies from students.

The names of the  affected principals  were not disclosed but it was learnt that they were heading schools one and two at Urhobo College in Effurun.

The others affected are at Our Lady’s High School, Effurun and at Orogun Secondary School, Orogun.

The erring principals were posted out of their stations and moved to Asaba from Effurun and the fifth demotee at Orogun,  went  to Illah Mixed Secondary School, Illah.

The state’s Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare, confirmed the development to newsmen in Asaba, saying however, that the former principals would retain their existing grade levels and  the remuneration attached to their grade levels.

Muoboghare said that principals’ positions had been  restructured , following recent handover of 40 schools to their original owners.(NAN)
