Save my life, widow begs Jonathan’s wife

ENUGU—A widow, Mrs. Mary Amakeze, has made a passionate appeal to Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, to save her from premature death.

Mrs Amakeze, a native of Nnobi in Idemili local government area of Anambra State, said in a petition that her son, Chidiebele, in collusion with some people have continued to dispossess her of all properties she acquired with her husband, Rev. M.N. Amakeze when he was alive.

The aggrieved widow alleged that upon the death of her husband, Chidiebele started to collude with some elements to appropriate all the family properties to himself, in spite of the fact that she had other children.

Amakeze recalled that she co-founded with her late husband, a church named Holy Sabbath of Christ the King Mission International, now known as Community of Yahweh Worldwide, but when she became a widow and had nobody to speak for her, her son and his collaborators excommunicated her  from the church and denied them of all the benefits.

Part of her petition read: “My son, Chidiebele also took away my husband’s properties and forged an irrevocable power of attorney, purporting that he is the owner of the properties, excluding the brothers and sisters.

“I reported the matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, but he has been using delay tactics to stall the quick dispensation of justice.

“I have tried my best to redress the injustices perpetrated against me by my son and his confederates, to no avail. This is why I decided to bring this matter to your attention as the First Lady of Federal Republic of Nigeria and mother of all widows.”

Mrs. Amakeze disclosed that all her efforts and entreaties to her first son to release the properties with which she would cater for her old age had failed as he had surrounded himself with bad advisers who are also feeding fat from her sweat and that of her late husband.

The widow, however, appealed to the First Lady to intervene in the matter and save her from premature death.
