Zambia will have one referee at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

FIFA referee Jan Sikazwe from Kapiri Mposhi in Central Zambia will be the country’s sole match official at the competition.

Football Association of Zambia communications officer Erick Mwanza said FAZ were delighted to have a match official selected for the tournament.

“We wish Janny well and remain very optimistic that yet many more Zambian match officials will maintain the high standards that our football is being associated with and strive to work at that high level of the game,” Mwanza said.

“Janny is a FIFA referee and officiated the 2011 All Africa Games final match in Mozambique.”

Sikazwe is one of Zambia’s most respected coaches and has made a rapid rise to top flight refereeing since 2004 when he oversaw division three games in the FAZ league.

He has taken charge of cup finals and has handled big Kitwe derbies between Power Dynamos and Nkana since the latter were promoted in 2010.
