Some traders at the Kaneshie and Makola markets have expressed satisfaction with the consumer patronage of their goods during the Christmas season.
They said though it was slow at the beginning of the month, it gradually increased as the Yuletide began.
Naa Ayorkor, a provision seller at the Kaneshie Market, told the GNA in Accra that this year’s patronage of her goods was an improvement over that of last Christmas.
“I hope that sales will continue like this till the New Year then I can confidently conclude that this year’s sales have been good for me,” she said.
She said there was no change in prices of goods as it’s usually the case with such occasions and attributed it to low inflation and good governance.
“I think we have to commend the government for its good policies that have stabilised prices of commodities. This is the first time that we are having fixed prices for commodities such as rice, sugar, cooking oil, milk, canned fish, among others for such a long period,” she added.
Madam Gina Gakpetor, a Cloth Seller at Makola expressed similar sentiments and thanked God for giving the country good and selfless leaders who were working around the clock to carry the citizenry along with them.
She said although there were imitations on the market, they equally made good sales this season and had to order for another set of goods to serve her customers.
Madam Gakpetor, however, appealed to the Ministry of Trade and Industry to continue their efforts in clamping down on imported textiles to serve as deterrent to others and keep the local textile industries in business.
Ms Joyce Fiawoo, a Second-Hand Cloth dealer, told the GNA that this year was really “an action year” and that they were satisfied with the patronage of their goods especially the “First Selections”.
She said they were expecting the patronage would continue boom as we approached the New Year.
