Moussa Sissoko has said he is flattered to be linked with Liverpool and Manchester City, and that his physique would suit English football.

The Toulouse midfielder, 21, has made 144 appearances for the French club, scoring 20 goals in the process.

The France international, who made his debut for the national side in qualification for last summer’s World Cup, has been linked with a number of high-profile sides and admits a move abroad would tempt him away from Ligue 1.

“Like any ambitious player, I dream of competing in big competitions. With Toulouse, I had the chance to experience the Uefa Cup,” he told L’Equipe.

“I think it would be good for me to play in Europe. I want to grow and if an opportunity arises, I would really like to take it.

“If I have to stay, it will not be punishment. TFC are a good club. Here there are also ways to flourish. Whatever happens, I will commit myself fully.”

When asked whether a move to Liverpool or Manchester City would attract him, Sissoko insisted there is no definite interest but admitted he thinks he would suit the English style of play.

“Already to have my name associated with these clubs is very flattering, but for now, there is nothing concrete, he said.

“I think my profile would correspond more to the English style of play. But that does not depend on me. I am under contract.”

The box-to-box midfielder described being part of the national side as “very important” in his list of priorities.

He said: “If I have to go, it will be for a club that will allow me to demonstrate my full potential. The France team needs players who play and who are visible.”

Sissoko has not been called up to the France squad since last August and is keen to resurrect his international career.

“With Toulouse, we had a difficult season. My form wasn’t so good at times, he added.

“Once you have tasted the France team, you cannot do without it.

“I want to show my qualities to reintegrate to the squad. If I perform well, I will not be far away.”
