Mick McCarthy has admitted Wolves could struggle to hold on to Matt Jarvis this summer if a big money bid arrives from a top-four club.

Matt Jarvis has been a stand-out performer this season for Wolves and has now forced his way into the England squad – making his debut against Ghana last week.

The West Midlands club are currently involved in a relegation fight and McCarthy says they could find it difficult to keep the former Gillingham midfielder at Molineux if they suffer relegation from the Premier League in May.

“If a top-four club offers unbelievable amounts of money for him – he wants to be a regular in the England team, and he can do whatever he wants with his salary and his career – then it becomes very difficult.

“There are certain scenarios you just cannot stop,” McCarthy told The Daily Mail.

Jarvis has experienced a rapid rise to the senior England squad after turning out for Gillingham in League One before moving to Molineux in 2007, and is reportedly now attracting interest from Liverpool and Everton.
