The Accra international conference centre went haywire when Jane Awoonor-Williams of Sparrow Productions mounted the Ghana Movie Awards stage last Christmas as the Best Make Up artiste of the year.
She succeeded in causing a major stir among the audience, males especially, as she walked up stage wearing a long black evening wear that showed a better part of her fair breast for public viewing and also revealed a better part of her bare back. Jane was not wearing any brassiere beneath her dress and at a point, she had to use her hands to hide a portion of the breast that were apparently causing alarm among the audience.
As if they were being controlled by some mystical force, eyes remained riveted on Jane as heads turned to the right and then to the left, depending on which direction she went. The neck-line of her dress was exceptionally low and the fact that the dress itself was a bareback made her boobs very visible even from the sides of her armpit. People described it in different ways but News-One prefers to advertise it as the dress code that defied the rules on the night and shock the auditorium of the awards ceremony.
Jane Awoonor-Williams is the Deputy Executive Director of Sparrow Productions and she won the Best Makeup artiste of the year for her work on the movie ‘Checkmate’, directed by Shirley Frimpong-Manso. Judging from how the incident played out, it was quite obvious that Mzbel and Mimi Andani had met their match when it comes to showing boobs. Jane was in charge of grooming the Miss Ghana contestants when Sparrow Productions had the franchise to organize the pageant. She recently launched her ultra modern Spa 216 beauty clinic at Kokomlemle in Accra.
When Spa 216 was launched, Jane told News-One she had been nurturing the dream to establish her own spa for a very long time: “I majored in Psychology but I have been interested in the beauty industry. And when we were in charge of organizing Miss Ghana, everything was about beauty. After we gave up Miss Ghana, I’m like this is the time for me to do something. She thus got enrolled in the London School of Beauty and Make-up in November 2009 to enhance her knowledge in beauty therapy before starting Spa 216. It is not certain who is dating her but News-One is ‘tracking’ her movement with a particular musician.
