Nigeria, Egypt Cameroon Beaten

Samson SiasiaNigeria suffered their second defeat at the ongoing Under-20 World Cup Championship in Cairo on Monday when they lost 2-0 to Spain.

Both goals came from the young Arsenal player, Fran Merida; one a superb chip, the other a confidently taken penalty.

For the second game in a row, Nigeria were reduced to 10 men when substitute, Gbolahan Salami was sent off.

The result means that the Flying Eagles will struggle to reach the next round of the competition- although that is not yet certain.

The match was a much improved performance by the Nigerian team who started with determination and strength.

Coach Samson Siasia made five changes to the starting line-up of the first game.

In the other Group B game, there was another 8-0 drubbing of Tahiti at the hands of Venezuela.

Elsewhere, ten-man Paraguay snatched a late winner to stun hosts Egypt 2-1 in injury time at the Cairo stadium.

Paraguay substitute, Aldo Paniagua produced a sublime volley in the fourth minute of injury time to defeat Egypt.

Egypt created several decent chances in the early stages, but Paraguayan keeper, Joel Silva displayed a fantastic performance to keep a clean sheet.

In group C, USA defeated another African representative, Cameroon by 4-1.
