Two masons are in police grips in connection with the death of their neighbour at American House, in Accra.

The suspects are Paul  Akpakode and Micheal Akoto.

They are alleged to have hit their neighbour, identified as Alex Ntim, with a piece of wood leading to his death.

Police arrested them on May 12, 2014 following a complaint by an eye witness, Issaka Malaba,  a farmer living near American House. Fight with wife 

The Legon Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police ( DSP),  Mr Emmanuel Basintale, said the eye witness told the police that one of the suspects, Akpakode, had hit the head of Ntim with a wood during a fight with the wife of Akoto identified only as Alberta.

“Then suddenly Akoto came from no where and took over the fight,” said the Legon Commander.

The eyewitness, according to the commander, managed to intervene and succeeded in separating the two people who were fighting. Good Samaritans  

But Akpakode, a friend of Akoto, who was standing by, picked a wood and used it to hit the forehead of Ntim.

Ntim fell immediately and when Good Samaritans rushed to his aid, they found him unconsious.

Mr Basintale said the Good Samaritans rushed Ntim to the Legon Hospital where they were referred to the 37 Military Hospital as doctors described the situation as critical. 

However at the 37 Military Hospital, Ntim was pronounced dead.

The case was then reported to the police, and the suspects were consequently arrested to assist with investigations.
