Nana Addo Is Our Only Source Of Hope…

Tongues keep on waging as to who leads the NPP in 2016 General Elections. Some functionaries of the party and even aspiring Presidential candidates had gone to the extent of quoting figures to demonstrate the abysmal performance of the party in the 2012 Presidential elections.

Some founding members of the party are even attributing the shrinking base of the party performance to the 2012 Presidential candidate using the 2000 elections as a base.

Interestingly, CAF completely disagree with the assertion that Akufo Addo is not a marketable material and that he the cause of the NPP electoral defeats.

Honestly, their analysis has no basis and lacks merit. As a result, Citizens Awake Forum (CAF) wishes to state objectively the records straight in regard to the elections held in the 4th Republic.

To begin with, CAF strongly believes that the NPP defeats in the last two elections are not any different from that of the NDC in 2000 and 2004 elections.

For instance, using 1996 as the base with respect to the NDC performance in the 2000 and 2004 elections, it was totally disappointing and heartbreaking.

In Western region, the NDC in 1996 had 57.30%. Then in the subsequent elections, the party came down to 44.83% and sunk deep to 39.96% in 2008. The situation was not any different in the other regions using the 1996 as the base.

Even Volta Region, a perceived stronghold of the NDC in the 2000 and 2004 elections recorded 86.28% and 84.06% respectively. Using 1996 as the base, Mills performance was totally down.

Flowing from the above, the NDC could have stopped Mills from contesting the 2008 elections having failed the party twice in 2000 and 2004 elections.

Though some bigwigs of the party showed their human idiosyncrasy towards the decision of the leadership, the party remained focused and unshaken.

That notwithstanding, the NDC leadership having study the trend of voting put up Mills in the 2008 elections and with the help of some magic hand somewhere, Mills managed to win in the Run off.

Today, there is no doubt that Ghanaians are fed up with Mahama and that the only source of hope for Ghanaians is Nana Akufo.

Long live Ghana!

Long live CAF!
