Ghanaian-born French football legend, Marcel Desailly, says he is ready to put his rich experience and global influence at the disposal of Ghana football and the Black Stars.

The former captain of the French national team gave the assurance after he paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah at his office in Accra this week.

They discussed issues relating to the development of Ghana sports in general as well as future co-operation by the ministry and Lizzy Sports Complex, a modern sporting facility at East Legon and one of the local investments of the renowned footballer.

Desailly pointed out that the development of sports in the country was lagging behind due to the lack of modern infrastructure and said he was ready to put his facilities at the disposal of national teams, including foreign national teams like Cote d’Ivoire who had in the past camped at the Lizzy Complex.

He said as a Ghanaian with the requisite expertise and experience in football, he would always make himself available to the ministry in any capacity to support sports development in the country.

In response, Mr Afriyie Ankrah welcomed the offer from Desailly and expressed the desire for collaboration between his ministry and the Lizzy Complex.

He also expressed the desire to forge a good alliance with the football legend in the ministry’s future development plans, especially in the areas of boxing and other sporting disciplines.
